CC is declining again!

So, funny thing, a random comment in a Discord server dredged up memories of CC from the darkest depths of memory, and I thought "Hey, I wonder if that game still exists." and a short google later, here I am.

Apparently the last time I posted on these forums was January 4 of 2019, so... 5 years and 1 day ago, which, if I may say so, is just randomly impeccable timing.

So... that's definitely 3500 more players than I expected. I thought this game was dead and buried.

If someone just would make a mobile app with a modern UI, I bet there'd be an influx of new players...

This past Saturday, I opened this site with my iPad to do something, and my two Adult children said: what website is THAT? from the 90s??? Yes, the site is old and shows it. But it still works for many of us. =D>

However, the question that remains unanswered: When are we going to see 5v5 and 6v6 games in CC? It would also be very interesting to see quintuple and sextuple medals for that.

Okay, perhaps if the owner and his employees lightened up... added some variety, things would be more enjoyable. Maybe that could make some premiums chose to stay, and continue their subscriptions, but that's not the point here..

2Dimes is 100% SPOT ON!

A lot of Mods on here are:

1/ CLUELESS
2/ UP THEIR OWN ARSE, and
3/ ALLERGIC to CHANGE.

Most of them have been in place at the start of the CC DEATH SPIRAL and continue to stay in place with the attitude THERE IS NO PROBLEM, and even if there is, 100% it's not their fault.

I am being very vocal recently, for the simple reason, I DON'T WANT CC to DIE!

MODS have the best of intentions. But some, if not the majority have nothing to offer which can improve this place. That is the sad part. Let's hope the one's who can do something come to the fore SOON!

Games started in the month of Feb (Only up to and including 28th):

In 10 Years the numbers drop by 28%.

DESPERATE

Much of the Day now CC is simply DEVOID of PLAYERS.

DRASTIC changes are required folks.

Some more interesting Stats. The Super League and Spin off Tournaments from it started in April 2021. So, we now have 3 Complete Years to Analyse, 2022 to 2024.

2022
Super League: 52,989 (7.4%)
CC (ALL Tournaments, Clan, Speed, Casual Games): 660,104 (92.6%)
TOTAL: 713,093

2023
Super League: 52,734 (7.7%)
CC (ALL Tournaments, Clan, Speed, Casual Games): 629,789 (92.3%)
TOTAL: 682,523

2024:
Super League: 59,243 (9.4%)
CC (ALL Tournaments, Clan, Speed, Casual Games): 571,121 (90.6%)
TOTAL: 630,364

In that time.....

-ONE TOURNAMENT (& Spin Offs) is now responsible for 1 in 10 of EVERY GAME SET UP ON CC.
-CC GAMES being set up has DROPPED 13.5% (in 3 years).
-SUPER LEAGUE GAMES have INCREASED by 11.8% (in 3 years).

This means that every part of CC has declined in 3 years. CLANS are experiencing issues, with people saying there are only on average 10 ACTIVE Clan Members in each Clan. Tournament Participation is decreasing. It taking much longer to fill Tournaments. Speed Games taking much longer to start. In the morning (GMT) you can literally wait for an hour on a simple 2 Player Flip starting against a Crown or Swords.

I have made it clear my thoughts. If anybody pays for a YEARS PREMIUM Today, I am ALMOST 100% certain they WILL NOT GET THE YEAR they are paying for.

The ONLY part of CC that appears to be INCREASING in PARTICIPATION LEVELS is the Super League. The support which Players have shown for it is AMAZING!

Yet, I still get some HALF WIT Mods telling me what is best for CC. Some of them the very same ones that have been in place since the start of the CC DEATH SPIRAL.

I HOPE CC WORKS SOMETHING OUT. I really not only want CC to stay, I WANT IT TO PROSPER. But to be frank, unless something MAJOR Changes. It'll DIE WITHIN 12 MONTHS.

I think it is well documented that most websites have shown a decline over that past 1-2-5-10 years (pick one or any).

The usual "suspect" of bad dice or a bad random algorithm is not likely to cause most to leave. That may cause a few to leave after a stretch of bad luck or REALLY BAD Luck, but that is not likely the main cause for the continued decline of this site.

There main reason for the decline in this website is that there are simply MORE OPTIONS for time online, gaming, and for entertainment (TV, movies, online services, cable, etc.). Look today at the proliferation of getting TV shows and movies via streaming. The days of the monopoly of cable TV are over. Will one or a few companies dominate entertainment, or gaming? Not likely, imo.

Here are some other reasons:

1) this game is not easily played on a cell phone (it is TOO complex);
2) the game does not appeal to those who grew up playing with a gaming system or video games with all the fancy "Bells and Whistles";
3) the 24 hour wait is a turn-off to many younger players; it is TOO SLOW.
4) Many younger gamers have never played the BOARD game Risk in RL and so this format does not appeal to them.
5) There are simply TOO MANY OTHER gaming options that offer # 1-2 and are simply more appealing to the younger gamers.
6) Nothing is constant, and this site must evolve to attract new players. I do not see the "Other Games" as a big draw to combat the decline.
7) People change; some come and some go, as in Real Life. Some leave, some return, and we add a few new players here and there.
8 ) The bump up due to COVID restrictions did not last. We have kept few from that bump; I am a Guide (and Super Guide, too) and have seen many NR GO and never return. SOME barely stay on CC more than 3 minutes.

SUGGESTION: I have advocated before now, and seen this idea posted by others, to have a few maps easily played on the small screen of a cell phone and advertise THAT to appeal to the younger players.

BOTTOM LINE:
As long as there are those of us who enjoy the strategy and challenge of the RISK game concepts, and enjoy playing with other good game players, this site will survive in some form, at least a few more years.

Yes, 2dimes.

Few years ago, there became +8 players per game options. 8-player games were the max, but now we can start games with up 12 players; however, we cannot make those games 5v5 or 6v6. For a 12-player team game, we can only make doubles with 6 teams competing, triples with 4 teams competing or quadruples with 3 teams competing.

All Valid points. But we can all forget the factors external to CC. ALL of those will be forever present now. They will be a factor in KILLING CC, undoubtedly.
But truth is, the site and playing experience is being managed to such a bad level that CC is managing to KILL itself all on it's own.

If all these External Factors were unsurmountable, then EVERY PART of this Site would be dying. And it is not, the Super League is the ONLY GLIMMER of LIGHT on a Site that that has been DECAYING for YEARS.

That's a swing of 25.3%.......If CC could attract 25.3% NEW PLAYERS then tomorrow CC would be back to it's GLORY DAYS!

CC is ABYSMAL now.
