[Medal] Diamond Medals

I propose that there be a diamond level medal that comes after platinum. Thus, medals would be in order:

Bronze
Silver
Gold
Platinum
Diamond

If you look at the platinum medals, they typically take years to attain. However, they do get attained relatively soon enough by the hardcore players. But then when a player hits the platinum level, he/she feels like games thereafter count for a little less. Thus, I would say if you have a diamond level medal that takes a very long time to attain, then games in a player's continued ledger will still have more meaning.

I would propose that diamond levels be at least 5x the platinum levels so that nobody reaches such medals quickly and so that those medals are rare and hard to come by. I feel like this would be very beneficial to the site; and I'm guessing there would be a consensus.

As far as i know, no one managed to get full platinum (i think ollie, mage and b00060 are close not sure they are there yet)
I know that i ve given up on gameplay medal, too long, too obsessive after silver anyway.
If plat is at 1000, diamond shouldn t be more than 2000, just remember that there are just 10000 players on this site.
Anyway, if some players are up for diamond, i don t really care, but i will definitely not go for it. Platinum is already "super elitist" enough imo.

I think 2000 or 3000, is more realistic.

Crossmaps at 500 (more than we have maps for :lol:

for example, top 5 players in a medal category have diamond medals. Then the goal never ends b/c you have to keep staying ahead of everyone else.
Just an idea.

Either way, I see no negative to adding more medal levels.

i think this is the only way it could make sense, kind of. adding levels for the sake of adding them while not even 0,1% users will reach the mark in most categories.... might as well just put a special mark on the category leader. the problem is that you can't strip a medal afterwards..

Maybe unobtanium instead.

Actually no. Music goes diamond after platinum, so it makes sense that CC would do it that way as well.

An ounce of platinum is worth roughly 1200 USD per ounce.
The value of a 140 carat(1 ounce) diamond?
Millions if its cut.

One possibility is that when someone hits that diamond level - say top 5 or top 25 in a medal category- at a particular point in time ( say its calculated as of the first of each month)- they get the diamond medal and get to keep if, even if they drop below the top diamond category later. Around the first of each month there would be a post in the appropriate forum of the CC;ers who have qualified for a diamond medal

So we could have CC'ers strutting their stuff, proof on their medal profile and in the forum post , that they have been recognized as one of the top speed players, or top dubs players or top assassins or whatever and lots of friendly competition with challengers taking them on.

am I correct that the top player in the history of CC when it comes to fog is gogglez who is the only one ever to have won 5 medals in that category?

And that as one of the few (200 or so?( who have won 4 medals in fog, I am one of the top players in CC when it comes to that category.?

That's interesting....Or you could have a categorized running leader board and diamond medals as originally proposed.

Diamonds are not scarce, they are one of the most abundant substances on the earth. The only reason why diamonds for jewelry are expensive is because the DeBeers company controls 90% of the diamond market and they are able to make them artificially scarce by manipulating the market.

diamond is widely used for industrial purposes at a cost of about $.04/ crt.
