Bottom line for me is this: I used to love logging onto Conquer Club, now it's just shit. And in my opinion, yes, it is declining.

There are four reasons I still log on to Conquer Club.

One - The Pirates
Two - I can maintain an officer's rank.
Three - I enjoy reading the drivel on these forums, as well as contributing my own share.
Four - It's an addiction, plain and simple

I don't disagree with that, but it still doesn't show that the data is particularly useful.

Posted or not, I can gaurantee Lack is on top of marketing stats. Also, we, here, just don't know what all his goals are. For example, I remember him saying a while back (when he was still posting) that we were perhaps growing too fast for a time. There were more people joining than the servers could keep up with (remember all those crashes???), etc.

And.. the bottom line is that he, not we, are in charge here.

That said, it can be interesting to discuss such issues.. and I am sure Lack pays some attention, even if not as much as some folks would like. Still, its rather like kids debating over whether parental rules are appropriate. Once in a while they have a point "Dad, I really think I am responsible enough to stay up past 8PM.. if I am hard to get up, I won't complain about moving my bedtime back...". The funny part is, that no matter how sure most of us are that your parents were wrong.. when we get to be parents ourselves, we strangely find ourselves copying them

Generally, sign-ups from advertising and internet search engines have dropped to a degree, so refocusing advertising and some SEO are targets that Lack is currently working on.

Personally, I think concentrating on the unusual and diverse CC maps more is the way to expand for the long term (without taking away from the standard base), but I have stated that elsewhere. As I said above, its Lack's dime/reputation on the line, not mine.

Good posters attract people to the site and keep them here for longer periods of time. An interchangeable word for "good" in this case could be "witty".

Yes, considering others keep saying only a small percentage of users are forum goers.....you cant have it both ways. Or are you saying the drop off is posters only, and the gamers are static?

As for this bull about charging people for entering tournaments, I cannot believe that CC has come to this.
