just an idea. And use the suggestion of fire, which would perhaps be surrounded by a dirty ground, which is where you can shelter from the blizzard/snow storm.icecold weather.

Interesting idea. The other names seem more popular though, at least right now they do.

You could even expand on that idea and have some sort of eskimo theme, or something.

There probably will be some fires, as soon as I can figure out how to make the smoke look ok with the white background. I'm not sure about tunnels though, because I think it would be difficult to explain without lots of little text boxes all over the map. I'd like to keep it simple.
If you use Highbriges/Tunnel paths. It should probbably a much longer way to reach the bonuses but it will give you adventages?
Maybe it leads you to a secret Canyon/Shaft.

I agree. excellent idea. I'm not sure about using white as #1, but I'll do some kind of yellow-red-pink color scheme. it'd go nice with the blue-tinted snow, I think.

I like the name Frostbite. it makes the map feel really cold.
I'm working on a second update. maybe that will help us decide what name to use.

The reason i said tunnels is cause i cant get the name im after, Im thinking of some kind of Brige (or Canyon Way) Which is above the surface.

Anyway i got no problem with Glacier i think its a good name.

in case anyone is curious, I've made a dock with some boats on the ocean.
Not going to show it yet, cause its not finished.
And I did some touchups on the water, so now it looks more like water, and less like solid blue.

I like the fire idea. Maybe you would get a -1 for each territory away from fire? Frostbite would be very fitting if you had some sort of gameplay like that.

i had an idea like that to! like the territories get more and more negative deployment thingy for the farther you are from fire (like aor magic). So say your 2 territories away from a fire, thats -1, 3 is -2, 4 is -3, 5 is -4, 12 is -11, 100 is -99, 100,000,000 is -99,999,999, 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 is 99,999,999,999,999,99,999,999,999 :mrgreen:

the bonuses are going to be pretty packed into the map, like they are on Oasis.
the most you'd get is -1, maybe a -2 here or there. because everything would be close to a bonus.

EDIT: I made a mine in the top left corner. three of them: Gold, Silver, Iron. They will be a pretty valuable target, because they are really far away. Maybe Andy can get a bit of his Gold Rush fun he was looking for.

ok guys, here's another small preview.
I made the mines (top left) and a dock with some boats (bottom right)

The reason I'm just giving cut up images is because right now almost all of the image is empty space. so I just get rid of the empty space and only post the good stuff.

The box with the mines on it belongs all the way in the top left corner of the map. I just copied it closer to save space. The mine has a sort of white haze over it. It doesn't look too great right now, but fits better with the whole map.

EDIT: right now the boats are really bright. I might be making them a bit darker, I'm not sure.

Perpetual Winter (or just simply Winter)
Snow Blind (or maybe just Snow)

How about "icecap." It describes a geographical region like tundra, but without the grass and shrubs.

I like Perpetual Winter, though that name is a bit long.
I like SnowBlind, but I don't think it makes much sense for the map, because there are so many houses and things like that, it'd be difficult to get snow blindness.
I like SnowBound and Frostbite too. no complaints about those.

I'm gonna wait until I get a more complete update posted before putting up a poll, because I remember someone saying they wanted to see another update before deciding.

I like "Winter" for the title... it reminds me of a book by Ursula K. LeGuin, called the Left Hand of Darkness, which takes place on a planet nicknamed "Winter" because it's just like your map.

Map looks great so far! Love the graphics, can't wait to see it moved further along!
